Dubbo councillor Vicki Etheridge has been working with the show owners for more than two years on a beautification project. Her goal was to fix the "haggard" look of shopping areas like in Boundary Road.
Based on information received from the shop owners, Dubbo Regional Council has developed a $1 million plan for the next four years.
In Boundary Road, any broken street furniture, such as the benches and signs, will be replaced. The furniture will also be painted to fit in with the late '60s architecture of the shops.

The footpath will also be reconstructed with non-slip pavers, and planter boxes, signage and tactile markers will be installed in front of the shops.
The overhead powerlines will be removed and replaced with an underground system.
Bollards will also be installed to improve safety. They will light up at night which will not only discourage criminal behaviour but will be a focal point when it's dark.
Cr Etheridge said it was exciting to see everything finally start falling into place.
This is something the stakeholders have wanted and asked for for many years, and it was always going by the wayside," she said.
"This time it's not going by the wayside. We gave them a commitment and the commitment has been met."
The Tamworth and Bourke Street neighbourhood shopping centre designs will be developed in the upcoming financial year, while the Victoria Street plans will be dependant on the completion of the Newell and Mitchell highway upgrades.
Mayor Ben Shields said he "couldn't be more happy" with the work being done to beautify the shopping precincts.
"We have a council now that realises there are retailers in Dubbo who aren't just in the CBD or aren't just at Orana Mall," he said.
Cr Shields said it was very important the retailers felt the love from their council and got the appropriate upgrades to encourage people to go to the businesses.
"These neighbourhood shopping centres are going to see a resurgence in the coming years so it's highly appropriate that Dubbo Regional Council get on board with this and support our retailers in this endeavour," he said.
The mayor praised Cr Etheridge for the work she had done in making the beautification a reality. He said the work wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for her pushing.
No parking spaces will be lost due to the work at the Boundary Road precinct.
