A serving officer has been arrested in the Central West and charged over alleged misconduct offences. In 2018, officers from Central West Police District and Professional Standards Command started a joint investigation into reports of misconduct. Following inquiries, a 56-year-old sergeant attached to the Western Region was arrested at Forbes on Thursday. He was charged with 11 counts of being a holder of public office and committing misconduct. He was also charged with eight counts of unlawfully disclosing information by a public official, disclosing information about registrable person and committing an act with intention to pervert the course of justice. The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Parkes Local Court on Monday, August 3. The officer currently remains suspended with pay and investigations are continuing.
