Singer songwriter Brandon Troutman has been a familiar face across social media platforms as of late.
Mr Troutman, who is based in Dubbo, has been sharing his original work during the COVID-19 period regularly via live stream on social media.
The proud Biripi man has been touring as an original music artist for over a decade and has supported other Dubbo artists online routinely.
"I was raised in a family with experienced musicians from both parents' sides, but I never actually took up the guitar or singing until my younger teenage years in the early 90's," Mr Troutman said.
"The music of that era was raw and I found it easy to relate to. It has influenced the way I write and what I write about.
"I'm often told my songs remind people of bands like Silverchair, Soundgarden and Nirvana.
"I remember when I got my first guitar of my own.
"My mother brought me a guitar and didn't realise that even though I'm left handed, I learned to change and play right handed because the school I attended wasn't able to supply left handed guitars.
"I began writing my own riffs and songs without understanding the basic foundations of music. I mostly played by ear and used as an expression.
Mr Troutman said he actually finds it confusing trying to understand the theory of music.
"It's more like a feeling to me. My writing style is simple," he said.
"I just take an idea or feeling and add what I think will bring it to life, complimenting the mood or capturing the essence that I'm trying to express."
Mr Troutman said live music during the pandemic has been pretty good as he's had time to sit and work on old ideas, but there are some things he misses.
"I miss the local talent in the live settings and mixing with the crowds that follow. Now I just go to and from work. Whereas before there was always something happening and events to attend."
Mr Troutman said he is appreciative of the Songwriters and Original Music Association Dubbo Inc (SOMAD) for allowing local performers access to a platform during lockdown.
SOMAD's Clint Hoy said Mr Troutman has been a popular recurring artist among those participating on the online series, Lust for Livestreaming.
"I've never depended on playing original music to support myself, but I am passionate about it and miss hearing others around town perform. It's interesting to hear what is going on in the minds of other artists and to see what they produce.
"I, myself, have songs varying from being political, to fantasy. One song in particular is one I wrote in my former band Mannequin, called People.
"It's about being one with each other, overlooking differences and being kind to one another."
