The Wellington trainer, who only has a handful of horses in work, hasn't scored a win since June of last year but he had had two hopes banging on the door in recent times.
Alison Princess and Harry New Shoes both continued handy runs of form when placing at Narromine last week and they're both set to feature this weekend at Wellington Jockey Club.
McMillan's pair were two of 146 nominations in total received for Sunday's meeting.
Alison Princess has been edging close to a breakthrough win and after a sixth placings in 14 starts she'll contest Sunday's maiden event over 1400m while Harry New Shoes will look to build on his last-start third in a CG&E Benchmark 58 Handicap (1100m).
That race attracted 16 nominations, among those Billy Bent Ear and Jarmanagic from the Dubbo stables of Connie Greig and Garry Lunn respectively.
Lunn is coming off a trip to Tamworth on Monday, where his best result was a fourth with Mudgegonga.
Final fields will be confirmed on Thursday.
