Over the past week, there were two stories that really made me smile.

And while our restrictions are easing a little, having something that made me smile was a real boost this week.
The first story was Tommy's Birthday party. Thanks to an anonymous reader we had a photo sent in of a sign in South Dubbo. The sign read Honk to Wish Tommy a Happy 5th Birthday.
Normally a sign like that would probably have a journalist knocking on the door of the house to find out the story behind it, but during a pandemic things are done a little differently.
We stuck the sign on our social media platforms and wished Tommy a Happy Birthday from afar. It was just luck his mum saw the post and was able to get in touch to give us the story.
With hundreds of honks during the day, Tommy had a fantastic 5th birthday, even without his friends, living in lockdown.
AND the second story was the one we tagged good news - the one about the bloke that won a million dollars on the lotto this week.
He had lost his job due to the coronavirus pandemic, and is going to use the money for a new car and a house.
What really made me smile though was this quote:
"I feel numb. I'm shaking. I've spilt my coffee all over the place. I can't get my head around it! It's absolutely unbelievable."
It's just raw emotion, and just sums up what he must have been feeling.
I hope you take the time to have a read if you haven't already, and I hope these stories give you a little smile today too.
Have a great Sunday
