Victoria is the only state in Australia where recreational fishing has been banned presently, with many in the industry understandably feeling the hurt of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Victoria's peak fishing body, non-governmental organisation VR FISH, has kept the fishing community informed via its Facebook page.
"The response to the Covid-19 pandemic is a moving feast and is very much uncharted territory for everyone," one post read.
"VRFish has been inundated understandingly with feedback by Victorian recreational fishers. The success in 'flattening' of the curve has been tremendous over the last three weeks and we are buoyed that government are reviewing and considering a relaxation of the current restrictions following the National Cabinet Meeting.
"This is a very different mindset from just 3 weeks ago.
"We wanted to let fishers know we have sent a letter to the Minister for Fishing and Boating advocating for the review of fishing and boating in this adaptive phase of the response to the pandemic.
"We are hoping to navigate a way forward for a safe and responsible reinstatement of fishing and boating while continuing to play our part in tackling this deadly virus."
In NSW, recreational anglers can still wet a line.
Those who do get to the water must follow guidelines set down by NSW Police though.
Those guidelines state fishing should be only done with strict social distancing requirements in mind, and only two people in a boat should fishing be undertaken from a water craft.
While people can fish in the state many Water NSW impoundments remain closed to the public
The nearby Lake Burrendong is one of those while Lake Windamere, another of the regions fishing hot spots, is also closed for all recreation at present.
