CMOC-Northparkes Mines (Northparkes) has joined other workplaces and work sites in the region and around the country in taking precautionary and preventative measures as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve.

Northparkes Managing Director Hubert Lehman said the mine remains committed to following the advice of the government and health professionals, to ensure they are able to manage the potential exposure and risk of COVID-19 in their workplace and in the community.
"We have taken a proactive approach and implemented precautionary and preventative measures where possible," he said.
"These measures include, but are not limited to, screening of temperatures for all workers on entry to site, reiterating the importance of respiratory and hand hygiene, restricting site access to all non-essential visitors, cancelling all business travel and as of this week, we have now transitioned all non-operational employees to work from home to reduce unnecessary human to human contact.
"The health and safety of our employees, contractors, their families and the local community in which we live and work, remains our top priority during this pandemic.
"While there are still no confirmed cases of COVID-19 within our workplace, we will continue to put measures in place to respond to the increased risks."
Mr Lehman said in a statement on Wednesday COVID-19 is a global situation that is moving fast, and they are and will continue to do everything they can to prevent the spread in the community.
"We will continue to closely monitor all information and directives from the World Health Organisation, health professionals and state and federal government to update our response plans accordingly," he said.
From an operational perspective, Northparkes continues to operate in-line with its production plans for 2020.
The mine is focused on continuing to work through various scenarios to ensure it is able to minimise the impact to their daily operation.
"The NSW Minerals Council is working tirelessly with their members, governments, regulators and other industry associations to minimise the impact of COVID-19 on the mining sector," Mr Lehman said.
"We want to ensure we are able to continue contributing to the local economy during this pandemic, this includes providing job opportunities for our local community members."
Northparkes continues to recruit for both operational and project roles. Through the use of technology, its recruitment team will continue recruiting new team members.
A list of vacancies is listed on its website - over the coming weeks Mr Lehman said a number of positions will be advertised in local newspapers.
