A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has been left with stab wounds to his chest following an overnight incident at Bourke.

Officers from the Central North Police District have been told a 24-year-old man allegedly stabbed the boy twice in the chest outside a home in Hamilton Place about 6pm on Monday.
The boy was taken to Bourke Hospital where he was treated before being airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead.
Police have been told he remains there in a stable condition.
Officers arrested the man at 6.45pm and took him to Bourke Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man, who is from Mount Austin, was refused bail and will appear in Bourke Local Court on Tuesday.
