South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett will be in Dubbo next week as the top billed speaker for a charity event.
Bennett, the seven time premiership winning 'supercoach' who made a name for himself as one of the most successful top level coaches in the sport, will speak to guests at a Legends Charity Luncheon on February 28 at the Dubbo RSL, with proceeds going to various charitable causes and local sporting clubs.
The luncheon, organised by MAAS Group Holdings, will benefit the Give Me 5 For Kids Dubbo Base Hospital appeal and the Australian branch of the Make A Wish Foundation, as well as Dubbo CYMS and St John's Rugby League.
Bennett will hold court on a variety of topics, including the success story of his incredible six premiership haul at the helm of the Brisbane Broncos and what he expects out of his final year with the Rabbitohs.
Dubbo CYMS' board member Nick Sykes said that Bennett's appearance had been secured by the MAAS Group's CEO Wes Maas, who will also speak at the event, along with Andrew 'Bobcat' Ryan.
"It's a very big coup for us, Wes Maas actually was at an auction a few years ago at a similar charity luncheon and he won the opportunity for Wayne Bennett to run a luncheon, so that's part of the donation that MAAS Group is making."
"MAAS want to give something back to the community and raise some funds for charities and local sporting organisations," Sykes said.
"Make A Wish and Give Me 5 For Kids are the major beneficiaries of the event, Wes has organised and donated Wayne Bennett and are covering any excess costs, so any profits made will go to the charities and the local sporting organisations."
Sykes also said that the local footy representatives will have a chance to learn from the master, with coaching staff having an opportunity to talk to Bennett at the event.
"CYMS and St John's coaching staff will get to hear from him, the majority of them will be in attendance and they'll have a chance to talk to him after the event."
