Jemima Hall was nominated for the award by the Visual Art and Design Educators Association (VADEA) for her contribution over the past three years as a mentoring/early career support project officer.
Ms Hall runs professional learning days for visual art, visual design and photography teachers and is also a member of the organising committee for the VADEA annual conference.
The award was presented to Ms Hall recently by the Professional Teachers Council of NSW in Sydney.
She said it was "very unexpected."

"It's a great honour to receive this award. It is nice to be recognized for the extra work that I do, even though it never feels like work," Ms Hall said.
The award recipient is required to have five years or less teaching experience in education in NSW made through a professional teacher association in a voluntary capacity.
Before relocating to teach at the Dubbo College Delroy Campus, Ms Hall was a teacher at Marrickville High School.
"I was the only art teacher at Marrickville High and joining VADEA was a great way for me to network," she said.
Ms Hall moved to Dubbo in 2019.
Since her arrival, she has injected herself into Dubbo College Delroy Campus' life as well as the Dubbo arts community by getting involved with a number of projects including Circus West.
She has also been working to integrate community art projects into her classroom teaching.
Last year, Ms Hall organised for her students to be involved in Dubbo Regional Council's project to paint a mural at the Aquatic and Leisure Centre with a freelance artist, Mulga.
"I asked my students to create a concept design during our lessons and then submitted their entries to the council," she said.
"Ten of our students were selected to be involved with this project.
"I want to be able to open doors for our kids and strengthen the educational ties to the creative arts community by creating great opportunities for my students to participate in a wider range of experiences."
After receiving the award, Ms Hall said she planned on continuing to combine her passion for teaching with her passion for her community.
