Dubbo Regional Council is in the process of developing a plan for the bank of the Macquarie River between the LH Ford and Serisier bridges. The aim is to attract more foot traffic to the central business district, while also beautifying an underutilised area.
There are two plans up for consideration. They include features like a riverside stage, boardwalk and a kids playground. There will be pontoons, more vegetation and amenities, turning the area into a place for fun and relaxation.
Council is asking for the community to choose which plan is preferred before the design is finalised.

Dubbo Regional mayor Ben Shields said the concept plans had been developed in collaboration with the community and stakeholders in the last 18 months.

"We want to create greater access to the Macquarie River and significantly enhance the precinct, making it a great location for large community and commercial events and better connectivity between our CBD and the river precinct," he said.
"The master plan will also be another driver for economic activity for the CBD and at the same time bring strong environmental benefits through rehabilitation and restorative planting."
Council livability architect Ian McAlister said the design process had already highlighted the need for strong structural and visual links between the riverbank and Macquarie Street.
"The concept designs incorporate a sculptural roundabout and other prominent nodes with built-in lighting that would give these spaces a contemporary and modern," he said.
As it is on the river, an important element of the plans has been the ability for the area to withstand floods.
Councillor Greg Mohr was a strong advocate for the project when it was first announced last year.
He encouraged everyone to have a look at the plans and have their say.
"This is something that is going to change Dubbo forever and it's good for people to come out and reflect their views on what they would like to happen in this area. I encourage the public and businesses to come out and give us their word on what they prefer on these two designs," Cr Mohr said.
Money for most of the project has already been allocated, including $2.6 million from the NSW government.
