Royal Freemasons' Benevolent Institution board member Douglas James travelled to Dubbo on Wednesday to hand a $60,000 cheque over to Can Assist Dubbo president Prue Thompson.
Mrs Thompson said it is an "extremely generous" donation, initiated by Can Assist member and member of the Dubbo Freemason's Des Sandberg.
"The donation will help to relieve some of the pressures on the community to donate to CanAssist, as it has been hard on many in recent times due to the drought and bushfires," Mrs Thompson said.
Can Assist is a membership-based volunteer-driven charity committed to ensuring that all people in NSW, have access to cancer treatment and care, by providing accommodation, financial assistance and practical support to people from rural and regional areas.
Mr James said the donation is the result of understanding the importance of the work Can Assist do.
"I wish we would have been able to support Can Assist for more than just a year," Mr James said.
Can Assist Dubbo and the RFBI Dubbo Masonic Village will collaborate again on April 5 at the RFBI Dubbo Masonic Village for an open fundraising lunch and fashion show.
