There has been a huge amount of interest in the carnival since it was announced Dubbo's Apex Oval would the host this year.
Regarded as the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Rugby Union 7s tournament in the country and run by the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team, the event is set to bring roughly 400 players to Apex Oval from March 5-7.
Plenty of sides have already signed up and the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team will be making the trip to Dubbo on Tuesday.
There they will run an introduction to rugby clinic at Apex Oval but even those who aren't planning on taking part in the Ella 7s can attend.
"We're not really after the kids who have always played, we want kids to come and have a run and see what it's all about," the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team's Rod Willey said.
"There will be work around the breakdown and I know a lot of kids would play rugby league and just get tackled and get up and play the ball but we'll show them what to do when you're tackled."
"We know kids play multiple sports and this is just another option. We want to open their eyes up," Willey added.
Primary school-aged sides will compete on Thursday, March 5 during the carnival while high school aged players will get the chance to compete on the Friday, before the women's competition begins in earnest that evening.
The men's matches then take centre stage and Willey said there has already been a number of sides who have signed up.
"There's been a lot of support from Dubbo locals and this can generate some more excitement in the lead-up," he said of Tuesday's clinic.
The primary school aged sides at the carnival are under 12s, while the high school contingent will feature years 7, 8, 9/10 and 11/12 and anyone from those age groups can attend Tuesday's free clinic.
The clinic runs from 4-7pm.
