Why not become a Guest Experience Volunteer at the zoo.
The zoo has over 90 volunteers who play an important role in fulfilling a wide variety of tasks from guiding the early morning walk experience, assisting guests with enquiries, wayfinding and interpreting animals.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo is holding a Guest Experience volunteer information session on Saturday, February 15 starting with an optional Early Morning Walk at 6.15am followed by the information session at 9.30am at the Zoo Friends building.
"The information session is a great opportunity to learn about a guest experience volunteering at the Zoo, what is involved and have your questions answered by current volunteers," Zoo Director Steve Hinks said.
"If you have been interested in volunteering in guest experience at the Zoo, I would encourage you to come along and learn more about the program as a starting point," Mr Hinks said.
For more information about the information sessions or to confirm your attendance, please RSVP to volunteer@zoo.nsw.gov.au.
Taronga Western Plains Zoo also has zookeeper volunteer roles coming up soon, if you would like to be notified when applications open please head to the Taronga website to complete an expression of interest.
"If you are interested in volunteering in a unique environment and contributing to wildlife and conservation then I would encourage you to register your interest to volunteer," he said.
Volunteers must be over the age of 18 and have the ability to gain a NSW working with children check. No previous experience is necessary as formal and informal training courses will be provided.
Expressions of interest for all volunteer roles are open year-round.
