"We went into the club because it was so hot and we needed to cool off. So, we bought a drink and played some Keno," the lucky mum explained.
"I have played a 10 spot [Keno game] in the past, but my daughter said I should change it to a nine spot.
"I was chatting away, so I wasn't actually watching the draw. I heard people said there was a winner, and I thought 'good for them'.
"I went up and checked my ticket a bit later and I found out I won. I cried! I was so emotional."
The couple took home $260,564.
"I told my husband and he said, 'I had a feeling it was you'," the mum explained.
"We went home after we found out and celebrated with a few drinks and some prawns."
When asked how the duo planned to enjoy their win, the winning mum said she wanted to travel around Australia in a caravan.
The happy winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning ticket at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club.
Acting general manager Gavin Townsend and duty manager Scott Warner said the club was thrilled to have made one of their local patrons a winner right before Christmas.
"What a marvellous surprise, we are all so happy for our winners," Gavin said.
"It's great to see the money go back to our local community, especially in these hard times," Scott added.
