Second round of Twenty20 games go ahead at Country Cricket NSW Colts Championships in Bathurst

Wednesday's opening round of Twenty20 matches, which were penned in for a 9am start, were delayed when the air quality index continued to sit above the 'very unhealthy' reading of 200.

Those opening matches were forced to be cancelled but players had hope the second round of matches would still get underway.

Hourly tests were taken throughout the day to determine whether play could go ahead and officials made the decision at 3.45pm that the second round of T20 games could go ahead - nearly three hours after the originally planned start time.

The thickness of the smoke visibly lessened around lunch time, where readings dropped below 220 for the first time, and eventually teams got back onto the field.

Western lost the toss against Central Coast but that would be the only thing which wouldn't go the way of the home side.

Bathurst's Ben Mitchell got the hosts off to a dream start when he removed Central Coast captain Broc Hardy (0) with the third ball of the innings and had Callum Dunkerley (6) out in his next over.

Tanvir Singh cleaned bowled Kaleb Daley to leave the visitors at 3-16 and it only got worse for Central Coast.

Ethan Muller enjoyed one of the dream spells of his career as he picked up three wickets in just two overs, while Jack Goodsell struck twice to leave the boys from the coast in all sorts of trouble at 8-59.

After a minor retaliation from the Central Coast tail the innings came to an end at 77, with Muller's fourth wicket rounding off an amazing day for Western in the field.

Both current and former Bathurst District Cricket Association bowlers dominated the innings, with all 10 wickets going their way.

Muller had 4-16, Mitchell 2-7, Goodsell 2-22 and Singh 1-9 while the latter also found a run out.

Only three Central Coast batters found their way into double figures.
