This year has been one of my most memorable years to date for many reasons.
I'm proud to have achieved a significant professional milestone by becoming a Federal Minister.
Many of you know that the portfolio areas of Regional Services, Decentralisation and Local Government are all very dear to my heart.
It's an honour to represent my electorate and the rest of the country in these areas.
This year has also been a difficult time for many people.
Farming families and communities right around the electorate are still contending with the drought which has been nothing short of devastating.
And to the north of this patch, unforgiving bushfires have left rural communities reeling.
However it will rain, and when it does, we will be stronger than ever.
The inspiring comradery I have seen throughout country communities during desperate times is second to none.
That comradery has helped so many of us to pull through.
The Coalition Government has been able to deliver immediate and practical assistance to farming communities to help those who are doing it tough.
I've also been in constant discussions with my constituents and federal colleagues about what else we can do, because as the drought continues, so too will this government's support.
I know how challenging it has been for so many of my constituents, and to those of you, I take off my hat.
I hope that many of you will be able to enjoy some time with loved ones throughout the festive season.
Have a safe and happy Christmas, and may we soon receive generous rain right across NSW.
