In the last year, Woolworths has raised more than $8 million for Rural Aid to continue to provide support to farmers in need by delivering hay for cattle feed, as well as other essential items.
Rural Aid National Business Development Manager, Wayne Thomson said the charity had increased the number of counsellors they have supporting farmers and their families as a result of the drought.
"Over one thousand farmers registered for assistance with Rural Aid in November which is the highest monthly total in our history which highlights just how desperate things are," he said.
"In the worst-hit areas, there is no feed or water for livestock and farmers themselves are running out of domestic drinking water, we are in uncharted territory."
Woolworths Group CEO, Brad Banducci said many of its stores and team members are in the heart of the communities impacted by the devastating effects of drought.
"It is unrelenting, and the need for support is stronger than ever," he said. "Rural Aid is one of of our community partners working tirelessly to provide relief to those impacted by the drought.
"The hay bales and livestock feed delivery last weekend to farmers in the Central West was just one-way Rural Aid continues to provide ongoing relief thanks to the support from Woolworths and the generosity of our customers."
