Organisers of the Rotary Club of Dubbo South's Twilight Christmas Fair estimated about 1500 people turned out to the annual fixture on Saturday.
The four-hour event that offered children's entertainment, food and stalls was held at Macquarie Lions Park.
Families received an early gift with unlimited children's rides for $5.
"We sold about 550 tickets to the rides for the kids, which was a $5 entry fee for unlimited rides, so the kids had a really good time," club service project director Craig Dickinson said.
The Rotarian of seven years said the focus of the annual fair was on giving back to the community.
"We're not in the business of making money on that event, we just want to give back and give to the kids, you know, I think there are a few kids who probably don't get to see Santa and all that sort of thing," Mr Dickinson said.
"It was just a community event we like providing."
There were lots of smiles on the faces of tiny tots ahead of the arrival of Santa Claus.
A competition with Christmas hams as prizes also proved popular for the adults.
On Sunday club members were looking forward to next year.
"It was just a great community event and we're already planning next year's," Mr Dickinson said.
"We've been talking today about it already.
"We want to make the next one bigger and better."
