Police have confirmed a 42-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving which allegedly caused the death of a 24-year-old woman near Mendooran on Tuesday.

The Honda CRV driver, who police initially said was a woman, has also been charged with negligent driving causing death.
He was granted conditional bail and will appear in Dubbo Local Court on January 29.

A 24-year-old woman who was trapped in the passenger seat of a crashed Mazda has died at Dubbo Hospital.
Police found the woman about 2.40pm Tuesday, at the scene of a head-on crash 15 kilometres south-east of Mendooran on the Castlereagh Highway.
When emergency services crews arrived they located a Honda CRV and a Mazda 3 hatchback that had crashed and come to rest on the northern road edge.
The woman trapped in the Mazda was taken to Dubbo Hospital for treatment where she later passed away.
Both drivers were taken to Dubbo Hospital. The Mazda driver sustained facial injuries and had back and neck pain. The Honda driver is understood to have been treated for minor injuries.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
