The award, named in memory of motoring journalist Mike Kable and voted on by the media, is in its nineteenth year and has been previously won by figures like Grant Denyer and Scott McLaughlin, a pedigree that Everingham was honoured to be counted amongst.
"It's pretty cool to be on the same sort of history book as [McLaughlin]," Everingham said.

Everingham was surprised to be given the recognition after what has at times been a difficult, but very rewarding, year, calling the past season a 'rollercoaster of emotions'.
"It wouldn't have expected it, really, it's been a tough year of learning, but we got through it."
"It's been a massive year of learning, and hopefully we'll do plenty more next year."
The junior started off the series at the bottom of the pack after crashing out in Adelaide, but was able to bounce back over the course of the year and finish strong with a first Super 2 win in Sandown in the competition's penultimate round.
"I started off the year pretty much last in the championship, but we progress along.
It was massive to get a win in my first year, it's something I would have never expected. The car just had great pace in the wet and we moved forward."
Everingham took the time to pay compliment to his contemporaries who he's raced with across the year in his comments after receiving the award, including MW Motorsport teammate and 2019 Dunlop Super2 Champion Bryce Fullwood.
"Competing against Dylan O'Keeffe has been really hard to go against as a rookie... and trying to chase Bryce Fullwood all year has been fun."
Everingham was also quick to thank his sponsors for their support throughout the season, crediting them with making his successes possible.
"It's massive, it's really good, I'd have to thank my sponsors for this, it's really their award, I wouldn't be here without them, it's just amazing."
Everingham, who was crowned Kumho Super 3 Champion the previous year, signalled his intent to continue contesting the Dunlop Super 2 series into the future.
"Hopefully we'll go around the Super 2 again, with Matthew White, but we'll try and get the funds together and press on."
