The child, who was playing outside with a sibling, was abducted by the 57-year-old man and taken to his home in the Dubbo region where a sex act took place in December 2017.
Six photographs and five videos of the child were created by the man for his own future sexual gratification, a court heard.
After the assault, the man took the child to McDonald's for a Happy Meal.
The child's sibling, who witnessed the kidnapping and tried to stop it from happening, told family members about the incident.
Police had commenced a search for the child when the man arrived at the family's home with the child, about four hours after the abduction.
He well knew what he was doing was wrong.
- Judge John North.
The man was arrested and has been in custody since. He or the child cannot be named because of a court-imposed non-publication order.
In court he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual intercourse with a child aged under 10 years old, kidnapping and two counts of producing child abuse material.
"He well knew what he was doing was wrong ... he presents a danger to the community," Judge John North told the Dubbo District Court on Thursday.
The child had endured a "confronting, confusing, uncomfortable" ordeal, Judge North said.
During the man's sentencing, the judge revealed the man admitted he had a long-term sexual interest in children.
The court heard the man was a former drug addict who had been convicted of break and enter, stealing and firearms offences more than 25 years ago.
Judge North said the man was sexually abused as a child and that appeared to have led to the sexual deviancy.
The man was sickened by his actions and compared himself to a vampire who passed his "sickness" on to the next victim, the court heard.
Judge North said the man was a member of the church in jail and prayed for the child to be healed.
The man was convicted of all offences and sentenced to 14 years in jail with a non-parole period of 10 years.
As he left court, the child's family wept and called him a "dog".
Outside court, the child's aunt praised the police detective in charge of the case and the crown prosecutor for their work and support.
The man will be eligible for parole in 2027.
