The current Penrith Panthers player attended the ceremony in Sydney on November 16.
It was a special night for the Naden family with the NRL star's grandfather, Uncle Ralph Naden also named Elder of the Year.
Naden told NITV after the awards presentation that just to have been nominated was "pretty exciting."
"And to actually win it was an indescribable feeling," he said.
Naden's advice to others was to not give up on their dreams.
"It wasn't too long ago that I was that little kids from Wellington looking up to other players like Timana Tahu and Preston Campbell...." he told NITV.
Former Orange local and Canberra Raiders fullback Jack Wighton was named Male Sportsperson of the Year at the awards ceremony.
This was the first time that the Dreamtime Awards had two generations collect awards at the same ceremony.
Uncle Ralph said he was "very proud" of his grandson.
