The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum of 40 degrees for Thursday and Friday.
The heat is expected to rise on Tuesday when 37 degrees is expected. Wednesday is also expected to be 37 degrees.
It's expected to get even hotter in areas like Wilcannia. The town is expected to hit 43 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

If you're looking to escape the heat it could be a good time to head to Orange. The city will only reach a top of 33 degrees this week. Bathurst will be a little bit warmer with a maximum of 36.
But after the heatwave, rain could be on the way.
The BoM has forecast a 20 per cent chance of rain for Dubbo on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
For November so far there has only been 14.4 millilitres of rain, while in October there was only 1.6 mililitres recorded by BoM.
