Between 5pm last Thursday and Saturday, the woman received multiple phone calls from a person who claimed to be the representative of a computer security organisation trusted to the woman.
Police said that as a result of multiple phone calls, the person was allowed access to the woman's computer under the precedent a software update would be conducted.
Last Sunday the woman noticed money had been withdrawn from her bank account without her knowledge.
Police have commenced an investigation into the alleged fraud and want the public to read up on scams and how to avoid them.
