The trainer and driver played a part in winning every race he played a part in, helping take home first place finishes in three of the four races that precede Monday's October 7 finals.
"The day of racing went well, it was a really good result for us," Hewitt said.
Hewitt both trained and drove favourites Roger That and Hurricane Roy to success during Sunday's races and was also on hand to drive Sam Hewitt's Redbank Cooper to an underdog win over the touted Joeylew in the first heat of the day.
Joeylew, a Dubbo product out of John Lew's training stable, finished sixth despite being a $1.28 favourite before the race began and led early as expected, but was unable to keep ahead of the pack in the race's final stages.
Hewitt will now have two chances at securing a win in the lucrative $30,000 Canola Cup Final, but he's downplaying the expectation that his domination of the heats might have set.
"My horses have drawn bad in the finals, so this weekend is going to be a lot harder compared to last week," Hewitt said of his chances.
"First and second in the other heat that were held, they've secured some of the top spots in the draw and with them being in front, especially along the fence on a track like that, they'll be very hard to beat."
"Eugowra's a track that has shown that over the years; most of the things that are at the front generally win."
Those long odds have made it difficult for Hewitt to commit to driving a particular horse on the day, with both of his entrants placed in the back half of the field, occupying the seventh and eleventh spot respectively.
Also making things awkward is another huge opportunity; Hewitt, an avid Canberra Raiders fan, might give the Canola Cup a miss if it means not being present for the NRL grand final.
"I'm actually not sure if I'll be going at all, because I'll probably be travelling to see my best mate Jarrod Croker in the grand final."
Dubbo driver Tom Pay also experienced success on Sunday, driving Bernie Hewitt's Write About Lexy to a win in the Kevin and Kay Seymour Ladyship Pace.
