Coach Bret Fisher says it simply can't happen again.
No matter how you look at it, the way the CYMS juniors started last weekend's preliminary final was massively below their potential and the side is determined to correct that and earn premiership glory on Sunday.
Peckham is more motivated than most ahead of the decider.
Peckham dropped the the ball on his first two carries in the preliminary final, and only a gutsy second half effort saw minor premiers CYMS earn passage through to the decider.
The desire to make-up for that, combined with the challenge to match a powerful Forbes Magpies forward pack, provides plenty of incentive.
"We have to start strong and play the whole game," CYMS co-captain Peckham said.
"It was a bit of a shocking game (against Parkes) but hopefully we turn up this week.
"The boys are keen."
CYMS was forced to play in last weekend's preliminary final after being beaten by the Magpies in the major semi-final.
A slow start also cost the Fishies that day, as the Magpies skipped out to a 16-0 lead before ultimately winning 32-20 to secure a spot in this season decider.
The Magpies' forwards also dominated the contest, allowing talented hooker Campbell Woolnough to dictate play.
"If we start strong and keep sticking it to them we can get the win," Peckham said.
"They've got Woolly (Woolnough) there and have got strong backs and we'll have to shut them down."
Forbes coach Jason Kennedy knows his forwards and the work Woolnough does off the back of that is one of his side's real strengths and it's something which puts him in a positive mood ahead of the decider.
Kennedy knows what it takes to get the job done, too, having mentored the Magpies to last year's juniors grand final win over the Fishies.
"They're a pretty handy side," Kennedy said of his troops.
"Absolutely they can do it, we won our last game against CYMS 32-20 and hopefully we can continue that effort."
Peckham is one of a number of CYMS players who knows the threats of Woolnough and many other Magpies all too well having lined up with them for the Western Rams earlier this year.
Peckham provided a real physical impact for the Rams side which won this year's country championship and a premiership win would cap off what has been a huge 2019 season.
"I've been loving it here at CYMS and it's going well," Peckham said.
The hard-running prop will lead CYMS out alongside co-captain Aiden Lake, another representative player.
Lake prove crucial in the win over Parkes, with his defence in the centres cutting down Spacemen attacks time and time again.
"He leads through his actions," Peckham said.
"He's not too talkative but he really does lead through his actions and everyone follows.
"We gelled together so well. At the start of the year we didn't really know each other but we've come together."
Sunday's juniors grand final between Forbes and CYMS kicks off at 1.15pm.
