Chiquitta scored the second win of her career at Dubbo on Sunday but any more races in the western area could now be few and far between
While currently trained by Rue's wife, Gemma, the filly is owned by Kevin Pizzuto, one of the top trainers in the country.
With a spell looming for the three-year-old the trainer of champion Tiger Tara is likely to take her back for what is expected to be a bigger and better next preparation.
"She'll head back to Sydney for a spell and I'd say she'll stay and race with Kevin," Rue said, before speaking about Sunday's win in the TAB Odds and Evens Ladyship Pace (1720m).
"She did quite a bit of work in the first 200 (metres) but then she got some really cheap sections.
"She only just fell in at the end but she's busting for a spell.
"She's done quite a bit of work so it wouldn't surprise me if she had three or four months off and then came back really well."
While Chiquitta might not be in the Rues' stables when she reaches the peak of her powers, the Bathurst-based team can take plenty of pride from how they helped the filly start out.
Rue stated plenty of work has been needed to get her firing but she heads to the paddock with a record of two wins and three seconds from seven career starts.
The maiden win also came at Dubbo, that one recorded midway through August, and she followed it up on Sunday by leading from start to finish.
Rue had to plenty of work early as he charged from gate five and got across to lead, and that was where he stayed throughout.
The middle quarters of the race were run at a slow pace and while Chiquitta ($2.30 favourite) had plenty in the tank she was still made to work for the win.
Rue made his move at the top of the back straight on the bell lap but Amelia Holmes ($71) was close behind while a host of other challengers also kept in touch.
The threats came from everywhere in the straight as the field spread across the track but Chiquitta held on to win by 1.3m from the fast-finishing Ourpocketrocket ($3.70) and Coffee Bay ($9.50).
"She's lacked ability but the perseverance has paid off," Rue said.
"And Kev could have taken her back at any stage, he's a trainer too, so he's shown plenty of faith to keep her with us.
"It's taken her a while to get going but he trusted our judgement and luckily it all paid off.
"It's pretty satisfying."
Sunday proved a good day for the favourites but hometown trainer John Lew caused a shock with $21 hope Joeylew in a heat of the Sky Active Racing Eugowra Pathway Series (2120m).
The win was the first of the gelding career and it came it start number 10.
