On Friday, August 31 2019 the campus will be inviting prospective students from around the region to attend an Open Day. This is a fantastic opportunity for prospective students to find the right course and study plan along with getting a feel for the campus facilities in Dubbo. Our new Student Representative Council has hit the ground running. There are five students in total who will be leading the charge for the next two years and making positive changes around the campus for their fellow peers.

The executive SRC members recently met with Amy Mines, Community Engagement Coordinator at Headspace, to discuss partnership opportunities between the University and Headspace. The committee also funded a morning tea for students and staff to celebrate Wear it Purple Day, an annual LGBTIQA+ awareness day for young people in Australia.
On Wednesday, August 7 the University had the pleasure of hosting the monthly Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. Breakfast. The University's Strategic Adviser - Regional Engagement and Government Relations, Fiona Nash, provided an extensive update on the University's development and engagement with the community of the Dubbo region. Ms Nash also spoke about new initiatives, future planning and collaborative opportunities with the University for businesses in the region. The breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed by all attendees and staff at the University look forward to working with the Dubbo Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. to host future events on campus.
The University's partnership with The Exchange is continuing to flourish. On Friday, August 9 the Dubbo campus was home to the Game Changer Challenge, a NSW Department of Education initiative that was co-facilitated by The Exchange. The Game Changer Challenge was launched in 2018 to promote a range of skills among students and teachers by exposing them to problem-solving processes known as design thinking.
Students from nine local schools in the region were given the opportunity to listen to a panel of local entrepreneurs, Emma Elliott, Nathan Shooter, Tom Larkin and Stephane Hendricks, who shared with the students how they utilise technology within their businesses. The students were then required to pitch ideas to the panel to answer the 2019 challenge question "How might we humanise technology?", which was won by Narromine High School for the team's water savings pitch.
