Dubbo's Western Stars are out to score a state title and bragging rights over their city rivals in this weekend's NSW finals of the National Indoor Cricket League.

The Stars, a powerhouse of the competition for more than a decade, finished in second spot this series and willl meet finished the series in second spot and will take on the McCarthur Raptors and Castle Hill Cougars in Sunday's finals at Newcastle.
The Stars have won 10 of the past 12 tournaments and were last year's NSW Country champions, a result which earned the team the right to travel to Adelaide to compete in the NICL finals series.
There they took on the best in the country and finished a credible fifth.
A realignment of competition this year has seen NSW Metro and Country having to combine their competitions, thereby limiting NSW's participation in the national finals to just the one team.
However, the combined competition has presented the Stars with a chance to play against the two metro teams, the Raptors and Cougars, and they will lock horns with them again in Sunday's three-team finals.

The sides have been evenly matched this season and the Stars have one win and one loss against each of its fellow finalists.
The McCarthur Raptors finished on the top of the ladder having only the one loss, which came against the Stars, and as such is the first team into the state grand final. That leaves the Stars with the task of knocking over the Cougars in order to reach the decider.
The strong core will again lead the way for the Stars, with captain Steve Skinner and brother Mat still lining up having linked with the side as youngsters 12 years ago.
The will play alongside Dan French, Ben Patterson, Tom Nelson, Mitch Russo, Bailey Edmunds and Jordan Peacock, forming a formidable lineup full of talent and experience.
The Stars have also finished the regular season of the NSW Country Championships undefeated and will now play in the State Super League Championships.
