Police officer charged with assault to appear in Bourke court

A serving police officer in Western NSW has been charged with assault.

On Tuesday the 47-year-old male senior constable was issued with a future court attendance notice for common assault.

Police said the charge relates to an arrest made while the officer was on duty on March 30.

He is due to appear before Bourke Local Court on September 19.
