Preparations are ramping up for the WWRL season, and is something Nyngan's Kayla Hasson-Williams says has opened a number of pathways for women out west.

"I love it, absolutely love it," she said.

"Group 10 and that are a bit closer to Sydney and Orange so they've got a bit more opportunity there. But the pathways for the girls are coming through which gives us more opportunity to show them what we've got.

"We've had to chase our dream and our opportunity being so rural, but you've got to sacrifice and put yourself to it."

The Wiradjuri Goannas are made up of Group 11 women from Parkes, Forbes, Narromine, Wellington and Dubbo and last season remained undefeated in the opens and under 18s securing a grand final wins.

"We worked really well as a team, under 18s really work well, both teams made semis and the grand final undefeated," Hasson-Williams said.

"We train together once a week on Saturdays, run all our plays, you get set positions, and do everything you can through league tag and touch during the off season, and then we come together and work hard as a team and have each other's back."

For Hasson-Williams it's been chasing those opportunities in western footy, which has helped develop her own skills and confidence.

"When you go through Goannas or Group 11 you get picked up to play Rams and that's where I was fortunate enough to go to that next level," she said.

"I've also being picked up to play for Illawarra and played in a competition at Sydney, and it's the experience that's going to give you the confidence and the skills.

"Keep chasing those opportunities, keep making those sacrifices, because you never know where you're going to end up."

Clubs will be entering under 15s, 18s and opens teams into the six round competition.

"Give it a go, you'll absolutely love it," Hasson-Williams said.

"You'll have your first hit up, your first part of the ball and you absolutely love it."
