Jeffs said he was disappointed with last weekend's loss against Orange Emus and their performance didn't match the ability of the team.

"We need to improve to be honest, I thought we started really strongly we scored the first try and the boys looked quite confident," he said.

"Then we turned over possession when we were attacking, they scored and the boys seemed to drop the bundle and fell a bit flat.

"They had to pick themselves up and unfortunately they didn't, that result on Saturday wasn't worthy of the quality of the side we have on the park." he said.

Jeffs said it was difficult to put a finger on where the Eagles were going wrong, but did say the players' attitude was part of it.

"The simple things we're not doing well, we are quite capable side, we've proved that in the first half of the season," he said.

"The first four games we got through unscathed then we fell in the hole with a few injuries. Guys came into the side, they've all been capable but they just aren't playing to the potential they've got, I think they lost that confidence a bit.

"That can be rebuilt, it's just a mindset and I think they are just overthinking it too much rather then just getting out there playing and enjoying it," he said.

Jeffs said despite coming off a strong performance at the Australian Schoolboys Championship there were no plans to place Cameron Trengove in the side.

"He has helped us out in the past and it would be a great asset to the club," he said.

"But after that commitment it would be a bit hard to ask him to step in. We also have to be fair to all our guys that have been training and doing the work.

"We need to work with what we have rather then trying to change and pull a rabbit out of our hat," he said.

Jeffs said the team's mentality was now about focusing on a game at a time, with the belief they can still host a home final.

"We've got to focus on one game at a time and endeavor to, if not get victories, get positive results, even if we lose, if we get bonus points they could be critical for us," he said.

"My belief for us to host a finial in a few week's time, we will need to beat Dubbo, Forbes still feel they're in the hunt so the last game could come down to Forbes and Dubbo for who takes that fourth spot.

"Which could also put pressure on us obviously with them being six points behind us.

"I'm putting a little bit of faith in the boys to step up and get the victory so they do get to host that final. They deserve it and it would be a benefit to the club," he said.
