Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana has taken the "first step" in the establishment of an export hub with the appointment of Andrew Foley as export development manager.
The federal government has committed $235,887 to the hub with RDA Orana set to match the contribution across two years.
RDA Orana director Megan Dixon said the aim of the project was to support the development of exports for businesses, particularly in the mining sector across the region.
"The program will include the Orana and Central West incorporating the major mining regions of Cobar, Dubbo, Mudgee, Orange, Peak Hill and Condobolin," she said.
"In the Orana region mining has the largest sector output at 18.3 per cent, so this hub will identify and support the tremendous opportunities for expansion in the region."
Mr Foley said he was a "big believer" in the opportunities in the region.
"After living and working around the world I've come to realise this region has a lot to offer in international markets," he said.
