At least, that was the verdict from CYMS skipper Jarryn Powyer after his side put on a clinical dismantling of the Narromine Jets in round 9 of the Group 11 competition on Sunday.

Last week, the form team fell short against the Wellington Cowboys and were dealt their first loss of the season, but Powyer says it had no bearing on their performance at the Apex Oval.

"Last week was last week," Powyer said.

"Week by week, we're looking to put together a consistent seventeen out there, we had a few changes this week, but it was a good effort out there."

That 'good effort' had the Fishies leading 40 - 0 at half-time, with the Jets only opportunity to try coming by way of Captain Dylan Hill, who forced himself across the line, but had the ball stripped from him by two defenders.

CYMS youngster Aiden Lake, whose fast moving offence along the wing had already netted him two tries before half-time, was able to notch up another almost immediately after play resumed, earning him a hat-trick.

"Lakey's a great young junior, someone we really love having on the team, he's a great young bloke," Powyer said of the winger's efforts throughout the match.

"He always holds his own."

The Narromine side managed a late, rallying push to get Corey Redman across the line, giving the visitors a try, along with a conversion from Janus Walford, to put points on the scoreboard late into the second half, but were unable to staunch the bleeding of points.

CYMS answered with another hat-trick; with club stalwart Alex Bonham bursting across the line in the corner and widening the gap further heading into the final fifteen minutes.

"Bonham was under the weather today, but he still just dug in and gave us a full eighty minutes, so you can't ask for more than that," Powyer said.

The Jets began to come alive in the match's closing stanza, pushing through with intensity and forcing some errors from the CYMS that they were unable to capitalise on.

CYMS still weren't finished, putting the final touches on their win with a final push that got Corey Cox his first try of the day in the game's closing moments and an absolutely stunning bit of offence down the right wing by Jyie Chapman and Aiden Lake that saw both men fend off multiple tackles, avoid getting dragged into touch and exchange possession with several quick passes to set up Lake for his fourth try of the day.

While Cox's kicking game, Lake and Chapman's blistering speed and Bonham's persistent offence were the standouts, captain-coach Powyer was emphatic that it was a consistent team effort that had delivered the outstanding win.

"It's a team performance, we knew once we got that early lead that a habit of ours is to go into a bit of a slump or to try and play some silly footy, but this week we just kept sticking to the boring stuff," Powyer said.

"On the back of that, you get your completions and then the tries come, so pretty happy with the whole team's effort this week."
