Tom Toohey's a last man standing of sorts but you can't wipe the smile off the face of the 17-year-old halfback.
The Red Bend Catholic College schoolboy made his Group 11 top grade debut in the Magpies' biggest regular season game of the season last week, Toohey donning the No.7 in Forbes' 36-22 loss to the Spacemen in Parkes.
And this weekend the young pivot will again line-up in the halves for Forbes, this time for his side's trip to the unforgiving Larkin Oval to play Nyngan.
It's rare to see a schoolboy thrown the keys of the defending premiers but with Cameron Greenhalgh watching on as starting halves Mitch Burke and Jordon Hartwig picked up leg fractures in consecutive weeks, the master mentor has had little choice but to throw his teenage half to the wolves.
And Toohey's more than ready for that challenge.
"I've been told to go out there and do my own thing and the team will get around me and help me out," Toohey said.
"Last week all the boys got around me and made it really exciting for me, it was good. I think it'd have to be the biggest crowd I've played in front of."
He's not the only young-gun in Forbes' side for its return clash with the Tigers, with Jack Hartwig named to come off the bench on Sunday.
First grade is a lot quicker and you have to make your one-on-one tackles, you can't afford to miss those.Tom Toohey ahead of Forbes' trip to Nyngan.
Both Toohey and Hartwig helped their school side to victory in the western final of the 2019 Country Cup at Parkes on Wednesday.
"Having Jack there is great as well, it helps to have that combination before," Toohey added, Forbes keen to bounce back after losing to the Tigers in round one.
"It should be a cracker in Nyngan.

Toohey will also line-up for Group 11 on Saturday when the red and black under 18s take on Group 10 at Spooner Oval.
Sunday's Forbes-Nyngan game is a round eight game brought forward with both sides to enjoy their general bye the following weekend, June 22-23.
