The mean maximum temperatures, recorded by the Bureau of Meteorology, showed that Nyngan recorded the most above average.
The town's long-term May maximum is 20.7 degrees, but his month it was 23.5.
Most other locations hovered between one and two degrees above their long-term average maximums.
Rainfall, however, was well below average in all locations except for Orange which received 71.6 millimetres of rain in a month where the city usually records 48.2mm.
Nyngan was not only the warmest location, but it received the least rainfall with just 0.4mm falling in the Bureau of Meteorology's gauge during the month.
Lithgow also had well below average rainfall with 35.9mm falling during the month, which is well below the long-term for May of 63.0.
Bathurst's May rain was almost average with 31.6mm received, just shy of the May average of 31.8mm.
