Allan Warwick and Gary Hayton from the Heart Support Australia Dubbo branch were at Russo's Coffee Bar this week chatting with locals about the importance of having a healthy heart.
It coincided with Heart Week which ran from April 28 to May 4.
While similar heart groups focus on helping people before and during their recovery process, the aim of the Dubbo branch is to support those after they've recovered.
Each week they meet at the cafe to socialise and also meet at Ollie Robbins Oval for their weekly walk.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Mr Warwick said depression can sometimes result after having a heart issue, so meeting up for a coffee each week was a great way to socialise with like-minded people.
"We found that a lot of people who recover from a heart attack get caught up with the dreaded black dog depression.. people just retract into themselves... we find by talking to people it helps bring them out of that state..."
Furthermore undertaking gentle exercise was a great way to stay on top of your health. While Heart Week may be over, Mr Warwick encouraged the community to keep in touch with their GP.
The Dubbo branch meet for their walking group and coffee at 12:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Ollie Robbins Oval.
