IN seasons past if you had talked about a two-and-a half hour training session for CSU, a good portion of that was probably spent in the uni bar.

But this season as coach Dave Conyers tries to shape the students into an outfit which can win the New Holland Cup, that is the sort of time CSU players are spending on the paddock to prepare themselves.
It is hard work which has seen the students win back-to-back games to start the new season and hard work which Conyers hopes will see them extend that streak on Saturday when hosting the Dubbo Rhinos.
"That sort of effort is coming with a bit of a culture change ... we are trying to step things up at training and work a bit more on individual skills," Conyers said.
"It's been frustrating in past years when they've had the talent and it hasn't yielded the results, so that is what the job is this year."
Conyers has been forced to make changes for Saturday's clash against the currently winless Rhinos, but he is confident those selected will get the job done.
The goal for him is to make sure CSU "win on our home dirt" every time they play at University Oval this season.
"We had six changes from the first week when we went to Mudgee and again this week due to uni holidays and injuries and guys working, we've got another six changes," he said.
"We'll be a bit light on in size, but the guys will make up for it in terms of mobility and fitness. What they lack in experience they will make up for in enthusiasm."
Kick-off is at 3.15pm.
