Ms Thompson spoke out about a number of alleged Can Assist Committee members "door-knocking" for donations.
According to Ms Thompson, these people are impersonating.
"Can Assist does not ever go door-knocking," she said.
"You can often find us in a large mall selling raffles, usually wearing a Can Assist shirt. A member always carry's a Can Assist Lanyard with their name, or some other form of accreditation. So if you're not sure whether someone is genuine, ask to see their lanyard."
Thankfully the reported fraudulent attempts were left empty handed, with those subjected to the "door-knockers" having not agreed to a donation.
"It's a terrible thing to see as many Cancer sufferers in the Dubbo area have to travel for treatment and Cancer is such a prevalent illness," Ms Thompson said.
