The annual Wellington Boot Carnival is this weekend, with two days of racing to be contested in what is sure to be massive crowds.
A non-TAB meeting on Saturday starts things off, with the feature of that meeting again the epic Iron Horse Benchmark 58 Handicap (2400m).
One of the longest races in the region, this Iron Horse this year attracted 14 nominations.
Garry Lunn trains three of those, Bemboka, Nightpsun, and Unresolved put forward from his Dubbo stables.
Bemboka has a win and four third-place finishes from his past five starts and has raced over 2000m frequently this preparation.
Michael Mulholland, who trains at the Wellington track, has nominated both Butter Toast and Lucky Elixir.
The field is also set to contain a former Country Championship finalist, as Justin Stanley nominated 2018 Dubbo heat winner Good Host.
Good Host had struggled recently but returned to form when running third at Narromine last time out.
Nominations for Sunday's showcase meeting are released on Tuesday.
