Officers attached to the State Crime Command's Corrective Services Investigation Unit formed Strike Force Balanada to investigate allegations the officer was involved in a relationship with a 28-year-old male inmate at the Wellington facility.
Following inquiries, a 24-year-old woman attended Wellington Police Station about 5.30pm on Friday and was charged with engage in a relationship with an inmate and causing a safety risk.
She was given conditional bail and is due to appear at Wellington Local Court on Tuesday, May 21.
