But they're quickly learning what it's all about and this weekend they'll be part of the first Dubbo side to play at home since 2012.
The Dubbo Rams women's outfit has been reformed this season and the new-look side started its season in fine fashion last weekend, downing Camden 71-51.
During a bumper afternoon of basketball on Saturday, the women's side take on Tamworth before the Rams men play host to the Sutherland Sharks.
"Some of the younger players in the team can't remember the last time we had a side. That's how long it's been," Rams' Cara Gordon said.
"But it's great for them. We're doing it for them and they can also see that you can be a mum and still go out and play."

Gordon, along with Monique Wilson, was one of the driving forces in getting the Rams back on the court.
They're two of the most experienced members of the side while the youthful energy is provided by the likes of Tori Monk, Abbie Merritt and Wilson's daughter, Demi.
Both Monk and Merritt dropped 13 points each in last weekend's win, but the star of the show undoubtedly was American import Faatimah A.
Brought to Dubbo to inspire the new side and lead them on the court, Faatimah did exactly that when leading all scorers with 35 points in the win over Camden.
"It was very, very good to actually be out on the court with her," Gordon said.
"It was really exciting and everyone was happy to just be back out on the court."
The Dubbo side is coached by Tye Forrester and Mark 'Bomber' Forrester, Gordon's brother and father respectively, and this weekend it meets a Tamworth team which is yet to play this season.
"From what we know they're a young team and there's not many in my age group," Gordon said.
"They'll be more the ages of Tori and Demi so they're going to be quick around the court."
Gordon also hopes the presence of the women's side can inspire the Rams men on Saturday.
The women will play first from with the men following, that side playing in round four and still searching for its first win of the season.
The Rams are expected to have a number of players back after a severely under-strength side was thrashed by 81 points at Shoalhaven last weekend.
The women's match against Tamworth is first at 4.30pm at the Woolshed with the men's following at 6.30pm.
