They have been the topics drawing attention this week.
Our too-close-to-call election, where it came down to the final number before anyone would concede or accept their win.
With close to a 20 per cent swing against the Nationals, it's not quite the close result that was predicted for the seat of Dubbo, and it shows the Nat's have some work to do in the community over the next term if they want to boost that swing back in favour of the party.
Bird poo was the other big topic. Raised by the mayor at the council meeting on Monday night, the starlings are causing an issue - again - in Macquarie Street - again.
It happens around this time each year, with poo raining from the skies depending on what time you go for a walk.
It looks bad. It smells. and something needs to be done. Just what? Well that's the big question.
Falcons have been tried, nets have been tested and loud noises were used one year. It didn't help rid the street of the pests that roost.
So what now? We wait and see.
