Mr Coulton said he was pre-selected by the Nationals as their candidate for the electorate at the end of last year. This will be his fifth time running for the seat of Parkes.
"I'm completely motivated to continue the role that I've played," he said.
"I'm committed to this job, I'm running as a candidate and I will continue until the electorate tells me otherwise."
Mr Coulton said the rumours, which started on Twitter, showed some people had too much time on their hands.
In the 2016 federal election, Mr Coulton received 58 per cent of the first preference votes across Parkes and 65 per cent of the two candidate preferred votes against Labor.
