One analysts said "the current first preference tallies in the centres, combined with available preference flows and scrutineer reports all point to Nationals candidate Dugald Saunders winning the seat by around 1,500 votes."
But, it hasn't been called by the electoral commission - who are still counting their way through the thousands of voting slips. The counting continues for the early voting centres, with the second count starting for some of the other centres.
At the time of writing, looking at two candidate preferred, it's 48.21 per cent to Mathew Dickerson and 51.79 per cent to Dugald Saunders.
Because of this, neither candidate will concede or accept the win.
So we are still in a little bit of limbo when it comes to the sitting member for the seat of Dubbo.
But, with a majority government called (based on the numbers above), it means that the coalition won't have to rely on minor parties to form a government.

And looking at that, it means what the coalition promised the Dubbo electorate in the lead up to the election should be what we are getting. A promise is a promise right?
So just what did that list look like locally?
At a quick glance we have $30 million for 350 extra parking spaces at Dubbo Hospital (though no plan yet, just funding and a number), then another $3 million for the Orana Region Shooting complex and $18 million for new overtaking lanes between Narromine and Dubbo. Across the rest of the electorate there was also $100,000 for upgrades at Mudgee Public School and a new sporting shed at Geurie.
Now we await a time line which we'll be asking our new member about when we get that final official result from the electoral commission.
