Hosted by the Central West Leadership Academy, the Engineer's Workshop will have students in Years 4 and 6 involved in various mini challenges involving maths and science.
The workshop will be held at the Western Plains Cultural Centre between April 23-25 April by Yooie Choi, presenter of the UNSW School of Education's GERRIC student programs.
The workshop is open to students from any school in the central west and has been made possible with the support of the Dubbo Regional Council through its Community Services Fund.
Central West Leadership Academy principal Mandi Randell said the aim is to bridge the gap between what's offered in the city.

Ms Randell said engineering and STEM skills was needed desperately in the region.
"We need engineers. And the idea of getting out local kids to excel in science and maths and get excited about science and maths at a young age is really important," she said.
The Central west Leadership Academy is wholly independent school, catering to students in Years 3 to 7.
Ms Randell said a part of the school's vision is to send a message to families that there is high quality education in the central west, their children don't need to board and that they are bridging the gap.
"We really try to take the kids who have a bright spark. Some people are worried the school is elite, but that's not it, it's about trying to get the best outcomes for those kids that have that exceptional need in at least one area," she said.

Ms Randell is hopeful they can continue to offer multiple courses to the region's students throughout the year.
"I hope that people embrace this opportunity so that we can make a case to bring more (workshops) and broaden the horizon of what's on offer in the school holidays for kids and enrich the chances and opportunities to close that city gap," she said.
