A Wellington woman who stole fuel from a Mudgee service station, was convicted in her absence and fined $110 when she failed to appear in the local court.

Elizabeth Jane Riley, aged 43, of Clive Street, Wellington, was charged with 'Dishonestly obtain property by deception'.
At about 4.22pm on Sunday, August 19, 2018, put 61.26 litres of fuel into her car, costing $104, and left the station without paying.
The incident was captured on the CCTV at the location, which also showed that used L-plates to obscure two digits of her number plates.
Despite this police were still able to identify the vehicle when they spotted it Riley driving it a week later.
When dealing with the matter in Mudgee Local Court, Magistrate David Day said "well it's Mudgee, fuel's more expensive here".
And upon reading the defendant's criminal record, added "the fuel theft isn't enough to demand a warrant, it's her modus operandi".
