Police were called to Boundary Road at 5.15pm on Thursday following a call from an 82-year-old man who said he has been robbed.

"He was accosted and robbed of a large amount of cash on Boundary Road," police said in a statement.

Officers said the man, who they described as being frail and suffering a number of medical conditions, had just left a hotel in the area and was walking to his car.

"He was approached by a female who accosted him and robbed him of a large amount of cash," officers said.

"The man tried to push the female away, but was unsuccessful with the female running off with the man's cash."

Police immediately commenced an investigation to find this female.

"The trail of evidence finally led police to an address in Boundary Road where a 17-year-old female was found hiding under a pile of clothes," officers said.

"This female was arrested, along with her mother who tried her best to prevent police from doing their job, with both being taken to Dubbo Police Station."

The 17-year-old female was charged with robbery and refused bail to appear before the Children's Court on Friday.

Her mother was charged with hinder police and offensive behaviour and was granted police bail.

Orana Mid Western Police officer took to their social media page to describe the offence by the teenager as a "low act".

The money stolen from the 82-year-old gentleman was returned to him by police.

He was not injured in the ordeal.
