Dubbo (8 points) sit second on the table going into the final round, and victory on Sunday would see them overtake Parkes (11) – who have the bye – for top position, and the right to host the final.
But a loss would relegate them to third and out of finals contention, with the winner out of Orange (7) and Bathurst (6) to progress instead.
“It’s very, very important … if we lose we miss out so it’s a must-win game,” Dubbo captain Mat Skinner said.
“Hoping I can get a get a good game out of Tom Atlee – he’ll be our opening bowler so hopefully he can get a few wickets for us.
“And then [hopefully] a few blokes in the top can order can knuckle down and score a few runs, blokes like Corey McDean.”
Cowra are yet to record a win this season, but Skinner said Dubbo wouldn’t underestimate their hosts.
“I think they’ve got the players to cause headaches but they just haven’t all been playing yet,” he said.
“I imagine they’ll have a stronger team playing at home.”
Dubbo recorded a resounding 71-run win over Parkes when they hosted them in round three, and the same squad will head to Cowra on Sunday.
“We can beat them [Parkes],” he said. “It’s just a matter of winning against Cowra, and making sure it’s Orange and Bathurst that miss out.”
DUBBO: Angus Norton, Corey McDean, Charlie Kempston, Doug Potter, Thomas Nelson, Ben Wheeler, Stuart Naden, Tom Atlee, Jacob Hill, Mat Skinner ©, Bailey Edmunds and Lee Price.
